A subdued President-elect Barack Obama Tuesday night gave a winner's speech that won't be long remembered.
Obama:
-- Correctly praised John McCain and invited McCain to join him in improving the country.
-- Warned enemies that "we will beat you." But he also reached out in his first tentative attempt to win back support for the United States from our foreign allies.
-- Reached out to McCain supporters who didn't vote for him and told them he wanted to earn their support.
-- Said there would be many challenges ahead, times when he would have to make tough decisions.
-- Got on a "yes, we can" riff to end his speech, saying great changes are ahead, that we need to "reclaim the American dream."
All in all, not a great speech. But give the guy a break; he's got to be tired after months and months of constant campaigning
